Bicycles
What is your dream commuter bike?
My commute is about 40km each way. It is pretty much all downhill on the way to work so you guessed it, all up hill on the way home. And by Australian standards the hill isn’t small. Those of you that live near/in real mountains would laugh but climbing “the hill” for me is still hard work and a little help would be nice. That’s why I’d like one of these:

250W of assistance from the front wheel and no chain. What more could you ask for in a commuter bike? It is a shame they aren’t available in Australia.
The bike shed
Over the years the Envirofuel bike shed has seen a large number of inhabitants. At the moment it is populated by six bicycles and a motorcycle, most of which belong to me. So now that new year’s resolutions are in effect it is time to sell the ones that are not being used. This is a painful thing to do for me but the reality is that other people will get far more use out of my excess bikes than I will. I really only need one bicycle and the motorcycle.
The following bike is for sale. If you are interested in buying it please contact me.
HP Velotechnik Speedmachine recumbent
Due to the very hilly nature of my current surrounds this fantastic machine has seen little use. It is a great ride and is in excellent condition. Due to the specialised nature of the bike I am prepared to ship it to most countries depending on the agreed price.
Features:
- Hand-built in Germany
- Moulded seat (suits 180 - 190cm tall rider)
- Rohloff 14 speed rear hub
- Magura disk brakes
- Front and rear suspension (it rides very smoothly and efficiently)
- Rear luggage rack with Ortlieb panniers
