Perth based Advanced Engine Components (AEC) has agreed a Letter of Intent to enter into a ten year Purchase Agreement with Tata Motors of India for the sale of natural gas vehicle systems, related components, spares and services.
AEC will design, develop, test and certify naturally aspirated and turbo charged natural gas versions of Tata Motors four and six cylinder engines. The engine developments, including certification to the Euro 4 standard, are to be completed by November 2009 in time for Tata Motors to produce and market vehicles in December 2009. This time line is planned to coincide with India’s regulatory requirement that all new trucks and buses, in eleven major centres, be Euro 4 emission compliant by 1 April 2010.
