Bloomberg are reporting that Indonesian palm oil growers including PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology and China National Offshore Oil Corp. are halting or amending a USD5.5 billion biodiesel plan after the recent increases in palm oil prices made the rendered the projects no longer viable.

HSR Seeds have developed a breed of sorghum specifically for ethanol production that contains a high grains starch percentage. The breed is called Tiger and HSR Seeds are talking up it potential despite the fact that limited stocks of the seed are available this year.

The fuel/air mixture in the new engine is ignited by a spark plug during starting and full load operation. At low and medium speeds, however, the gasoline engine morphs into a self-igniting unit operating on the diesel principle.

The results from a study by an international collaboration between New Zealand’s Scion and AgResearch research instituets, Carter Holt Harvey and Verenium Corporation have found that there are no significant technical or supply barriers to producing ethanol from New Zealand’s softwood feedstocks, despite previous concerns that it was technically too difficult and too expensive.

After doing a little online research last night on the Air Car so I could respond to a reader’s query I became quite confused. A week ago there was only one Air Car, the one designed by MDI Enterprises S.A. and manufactured by Tata in India. Now if you search for Air Car you’ll find The Air Car Factories S.A. at the top of your search results.
